About
What is It
Amahi started as a simple idea to provide an easy way to manage a small network like the ones we have at home.
We define home networking broadly, from storage to networking, to backups, to calendaring. We found ourselves in the situation of having to “run” several home networks and their users, such as neighbors, friends and families and their spouses and kids.
So, we decided to implement our system as an Open Source project built on Ruby on Rails and on top of the more popular Linux distributions. We chose Fedora first.
About Amahi
Amahi was born out of of a desire for a simple, modular personal server that would be easy to manage and also easy to use for our family, who are not what you would call sophisticated users.
One of the goals is to make the system interoperable with all mainstream operating systems such as Windows or Mac OSX. We hope that by focusing on the user experience and on compatibility across platforms we can create a distinct, usable platform.
